Reasonable expectations for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 Week 1

Carr & Adams hook up for the first TD

The Raider’s new regime started out hot in their tenure for the Raiders by going out and getting arguably the best wide receiver in the league in Davante Adams. But the only news circling the airwaves and social media bigger than that is the fact that he now joins his former Fresno State quarterback and best friend Derek Carr.

In two seasons at Fresno State, the duo was as good as anyone in college football. In the 2013 season, Carr led the FBS in passing yards and passing touchdowns, while Adams led the FBS in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Those numbers went on to bring the Bulldogs a Mountain West Championship and solidify them as one of the best duos in the game.

Fast forward almost 10 years and they finally get to reunite on the biggest stage. Both players are arguably in the prime of their careers and have left little to doubt what they expect from themselves individually as leaders of this offense.

Undoubtedly, they plan to continue their history of connecting for touchdowns. Expect Carr to look for Adams early and often as they try and set the standard for the rest of the season. If Raider Nation had its way, the first play from scrimmage would be a big shot deep. Don’t put it past Josh McDaniels to give the people what they want.
