Raiders at Chargers: Offensive Grades for 2022 Week 1

Wide Receivers

From the game’s first offensive snap, Davante Adams showed why the Raiders made the trade for him this offseason. They threw to him early and often as he accounted for 17 of the team’s 35 targets finishing with ten catches for 141 yards and one touchdown.

The elite route running was on full display, and there is no doubt that Adams will continue to be one of the best receivers in the league.

However, there wasn’t much contribution from the rest of the receiving crew. Hunter Renfrow was a nonfactor with only three catches for 21 yards, and Mack Hollins had one catch.

Darren Waller was great over the middle of the field and got behind the defense on multiple occasions. And he would have had a touchdown, but Carr threw the ball behind him on a crossing route.

Adams is so good individually that he raises the ceiling of this pass-catching unit by himself. If he plays like he did on Sunday all season, expect All-Pro accolades, which will undoubtedly open up opportunities for Renfrow and Waller as we advance.
