Raiders: Keys to victory against the Titans in 2022 Week 3

Offensive Line Continuity

The Achilles heel of this Raiders offense has undoubtedly been their offensive line. The only players that were locked into their position were Kolton Miller at right tackle and Andre James at center. Both guard positions and right tackle have been a carousel of who was going to emerge as OL1 at their respective positions. What comes along with that uncertainty up until the last minute is the starters’ ability to gel together as a unit and have consistent play for 60 minutes.

The Titans defensive front seven has quite the talent amongst them. Between Jeffery Simmons, former Raider Denico Autry, and Zach Cunningham at linebacker the Raiders offensive line is going to have their hands full if they are going to protect Derek Carr. They had Daniel Jones constantly fleeing the pocket in Week 1 and even kept Josh Allen on his toes despite getting blown out on Monday Night against the Bills.

What seems to be a running theme for this Titans defense quite literally is their tendency to dial up blitzes and stunts. Expect them to throw everything but the kitchen sink at this struggling Raiders offense to try and get them mixed up and confused on who’s coming from where. If this front five is going to give Derek Carr enough time to get the ball to his many weapons and go through his progressions, they are going to have to have the type of continuity that can make shifts on the fly, call out blitzes, and trust each other enough to double team and help when needed.
