Las Vegas Raiders vs Tennessee Titans 2022 Week 3: Studs and Duds

Dud – Chandler Jones

Leading up to the game the Tennessee Titans announced that star LT Taylor Lewan would miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury and the conversation immediately turned to DE Chandler Jones. The veteran pass rusher had not made much of an impact in the first two weeks and this was supposed to be his coming out party against a backup LT that had started 21 games in 3 seasons.

Instead, Jones had another anonymous performance where he recorded one solo tackle and one pressure but did little else. He looked tentative and did not seem to be rushing the passer with the same effort we have seen in previous seasons where he routinely recorded double-digit sacks.

Some of his defenders, myself included, have noted that he was often tasked with maintaining contain and setting the edge but he did not do that very well in this game either. In obvious passing situations, he was held in check by a backup LT and contained largely without double teams. The Raiders are paying this man a lot of money and he has an elite pass rusher opposite him in Maxx Crosby so when will we see that pay off?
