Keys to victory against the Chiefs in 2022 Week 5

Control the clock

The only way to really stop Patrick Mahomes is to make sure he is watching the game, and not on the actual field. The only way to do that is to keep sustained drives going, picking up first downs, and allowing the offense for the Raiders to control the clock the entire game.

Yes, that is easier said than done, and the Chiefs do have the ability to strike for a long touchdown every time Mahomes has the ball in his hands. The goal on Monday night will be to minimize the damage that he can do, because if the Raiders offense is struggling to put drives together, and the defense is out there more times than they should, it could be a long night.

This is not going to be an easy one for the Raiders, who are early seven-point dogs by the oddsmakers in a tough road environment. However, they have shown flashes where they can be one of the elite teams in the NFL this season, and if they can put it together for four quarters, like they did on Sunday, anything is possible.
