Keys to victory against the Chiefs in 2022 Week 5

Take shots downfield in the passing game

Against the Denver Broncos, it was clear that Derek Carr was trying to be protective with the football, as he did not complete a pass downfield. Instead, he worked the intermediate game with his running backs and Davante Adams, who had ten catches for over 100 yards in the contest.

Against the Chiefs, the Raiders have to at least take some shots downfield, as based on the tape, there were multiple chances against the Broncos. Yes, the Broncos have an elite secondary, and yes, the offensive line struggles to give Carr time, but they have to be a little less vanilla in the passing game on Monday.

Now, I am not saying that Carr should force anything downfield, I am just saying that taking some shots to Adams or Mack Hollins will help open up the run game, and the intermediate passing attack to Darren Waller. This is an explosive offense filled with elite talent, and they will have to go toe-to-toe with a high-flying Chiefs attack if they want to win this game.
