Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs 2022 Week 5: Studs and Duds

Stud – Davante Adams

Someone had to be on the end of the bombs from Derek Carr and that man was the Raiders’ star receiver, Davante Adams. The two touchdowns scored by Adams were some of the longest of his career with the 58-yarder in the first quarter being his second-longest ever.

Adams only finished the day with 3 catches but he made them count as he went for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Without the presence of Darren Waller, the Chiefs’ defense was able to key in on Adams so the volume was not quite there but the impact was obvious.

The veteran receiver should have had an additional catch for 20 or so more yards as he made what was nearly a game-winning grab for the Raiders on the final drive. Adams looked to have both feet in when he made the grab on 3rd and 1 and it was ruled complete initially but a lengthy review overturned it despite the thin margins.

More on this later but were it not for the NFL overcomplicating the hell out of what constitutes a catch, Adams would have set up the Raiders in field goal range with around 40 seconds to go and a great shot at winning the game. He needs to be more involved in the game plan but as mentioned, his impact was felt in a major way through his big play ability.
