Five Reasons Why The Las Vegas Raiders Are Not Dead Yet
The Raiders have shown they can overcome adversity
It’s hard to be a Raiders fan when so many losses have come in disheartening fashion. But for better or for worse, the Silver and Black have a tendency to play up to the challenge and exceed expectations when they have no business doing so. For every frustrating loss, there is a surprise triumph that no one could have foreseen, just look at last season.
After releasing their former first-round receiver due to a fatal car crash and seeing their head coach resign, the Raiders sat at 6-7 in Week 14. What did they manage to do going forward? String together four straight wins to move to 10-7 and punch a ticket to a wild card appearance.
From there, the Raiders were a touchdown away from potentially overcoming the eventual AFC Champion Bengals.
The situations are drastically different, but critics should disregard the notion that this Raiders team must “learn how to win again.” They’ve overcome adversity already, and one can make the case that last season’s hurdles are vastly more drastic than a 1-4 record.
They’ve done it before and they can do it again, but it’s going to take a collective effort and they have to take it week by week. Las Vegas has shown they can pull a couple of tricks out of their sleeves and shock the world when counted out. Time will tell if the Raiders can rewrite the script once more in 2022.
