Of course, this trade would only happen if the Raiders continue to lose games heading into the deadline. One of the league’s best running backs, Jacobs is having quite possibly his best season as a pro so far in 2022. With 490 yards rushing and three touchdowns, he is a massive part of the Raiders’ offense.

However, Las Vegas did not pick up his fifth-year option in the off-season meaning he is scheduled to be a free agent in 2023. With the risk of signing running backs to long-term extensions well known, he is unlikely to be with the Raiders beyond this season. As such, why not see what value he holds on the trade market?

With teams like the Ravens and Bills both struggling to find production at running back, they may be willing to part with somewhat valuable draft capital to acquire one of the league’s best and most productive running backs. Since he plays such a replaceable position, he is likely to only fetch a fourth-round pick at best but it could be valuable to get something in return rather than lose him for nothing.

Obviously, the Raiders are unlikely to trade Jacobs away. However, if they are far enough out of the race, it could make sense to accumulate some draft capital.
