Las Vegas Raiders vs Houston 2022 Week 7: Texans to Worry About

Brandin Cooks

Cooks may not be the most intimidating threat he once was after being drafted 20th overall in the first round, but he warrants the attention of the Raiders’ secondary. He was brought in to be the deep threat in Houston’s passing attack, and he’s still liable to beat defenders over the top from time to time. While the Raiders have been solid against the run, they have been much more susceptible through the air.

Las Vegas is allowing 256.0 passing yards per game, which ranks 24th in the NFL. The Texans rank 20th with an average of 33.2 pass attempts per game, so when called upon they have not been shy from playing from the pocket. The Raiders, for better or for worse, have a tendency to play up to or beneath their opponents.

Make no mistake, Las Vegas can’t afford to let up when Cooks has the potential to create a big play over the top.

The Raiders secondary is banged up after losing Nate Hobbs to a fractured hand, but help could be on the way with the return of Anthony Averett, who has been sidelined since Week 1. The shifting pieces at cornerback only give more reason to not overlook the deep threat of Cooks on the outside.
