Raiders vs Texans 2022 Week 7: Key matchups to watch

Davante Adams vs. Derek Stingley

Despite an interesting finish to his college career, Derek Stingley Jr was selected three overall ahead of Sauce Gardner in the draft. And he has been able to make quite a few nice plays early in his career but will face his toughest matchup of this young season against Davante Adams.

Stingley Jr has already been asked to shadow a few top receivers in Mike Williams and Courtland Sutton, and he allowed a combined 14 catches for 244 yards but no touchdowns. So there are definitely such growing pains within the splash plays.

Adams is a clear tier above those two wideouts, so things could worsen on Sunday. The Raiders should go right at the rookie and get Adams more targets in this game because he has only had five or more catches in two games. And he will need to regain momentum as the frustration of the Chiefs’ loss seems to boil over.
