Las Vegas Raiders X-Factors against the Texans in 2022 Week 7

Will Renfrow have his breakout game of the season?

The likely candidate to step up in place of Waller’s injury would be Derek Carr’s go-to target on third down in Hunter Renfrow. Unfortunately, much like the larger offense as a whole, Renfrow has gotten off to a slow start to the season. Yes, he was sidelined for two games while working through concussion protocol, but his stats in the games he’s suited up for leave much to be desired.

Renfrow has tallied 14 receptions for just 105 yards in three games while having yet to record a receiving touchdown this season. His 7.5 yards per reception this season marks the lowest of his career. Simply put, his lack of impact on the offense is a hindrance that the Raiders can no longer afford as they hope to bounce back from their 1-4 record.

If there were ever a time for Renfrow to step up with a vintage breakout performance, Week 7 against the Texans would be it. Las Vegas is down an offensive weapon with Waller unlikely to take the field, and Carr needs another weapon to keep the Texans’ defense honest should they choose to shadow Adams all game. The NFL season is a marathon and not a sprint, but if Las Vegas hopes to spark any kind of turnaround it must be predicated on Renfrow doing the same.
