Las Vegas Raiders vs Houston Texans 2022 Week 7: Studs and Duds

Stud – Duron Harmon

Duron Harmon’s nickname on Pro Football Reference is “The Closer” and on Sunday he showed us once again why it is perfect for him. With the Texans driving down the field down 11 in the fourth quarter, a touchdown or field goal would have made things at least more interesting and put the game’s outcome in doubt.

Instead, Harmon jumped a route and snatched a Davis Mills pass away from a Texans receiver, and returned it 73 yards to the house to put the Raiders up by 17 with 3:39 to go and end the game as a contest. It was the third big play of the year for Harmon as he recorded a pick against Tennessee and forced a fumble against Denver that Amik Robertson returned for a key score that turned the game in a major way.

There was some concern about Harmon’s speed and effectiveness after he signed with the Raiders but he has shown that at 31 he has still not lost his playmaking ability when given the opportunity. Harmon now has 23 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries in his career but this was his first defensive touchdown in a glittering 10-year career.

The Raiders will be hoping that he can keep making big plays for a defense that is sorely in need of some difference-makers
