Reasons Las Vegas Raiders should be 2022 trade deadline buyers, not sellers

Proven talent over “potential” for the Raiders

Speaking of draft picks, news flash: they don’t always pan out. The draft is a crapshoot. Rarely does a pick guarantee a return. Besides Payne, the Raiders have also been linked to Jack Conklin. In many ways, Conklin would address the need for a true right tackle. You get yourself a proven starter that comes relatively cheap at $6 million for next season.

Naturally, Raiders fans will bring up Thayer Munford. He’s coming along nicely, but he’s far from set in stone at right tackle. Conklin could be a stop-gap solution as Munford continues to be developed by this coaching staff. At the end of the day, it also beats having to continue trotting out Jermaine Eluemunor.

The offense is on a roll thanks to Josh Jacobs and Derek Carr, but the O-line is still yet to be a finished product. If a fourth and fifth-round pick can help you in that regard, shouldn’t Ziegler pull the trigger?
