The Las Vegas Raiders were throttled by the New Orleans Saints in Week 8, and here are some things that surprised us in the 24-0 loss.

After beating the Houston Texans in Week 7, getting their second victory of the season, the thought was that the 2022 Las Vegas Raiders were going to make a run. They were entering a soft spot in their schedule, and their opponent in Week 8, the New Orleans Saints, was a two-win team that had been decimated by injuries.

Though playing on the road, and in the 10AM PT timeslot, the assumption was that the Silver and Black had enough talent to win this one, and move ever closer to .500 after a horrible start to the season. Instead, it was a nightmare scenario for Josh McDaniels and his team, as they did not have an offensive play in Saints territory until the fourth quarter, and were soundly beaten on the road.

After another close-door meeting with team owner Mark Davis after the loss, you have to wonder where McDaniels stands in terms of his job security. He came to the Raiders with multiple rings from his time in New England, but through seven games, has looked more like the coach that was run out of Denver.

As the smoke clears on this debacle, let us look at what surprised us on Sunday afternoon.
