Raiders at Jaguars Prediction and Odds for 2022 Week 9 NFL Football
By Brad Weiss
After a terrible loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 8, the Las Vegas Raiders look to get back into the win column against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sunday morning was a punch in the face for the Las Vegas Raiders, as they went into the Caesars Superdome and were completely outclassed by the New Orleans Saints. The offense was atrocious, the coaching was horrible, and in the end, the defense had no answer for the combination of Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara in a 24-0 loss on the road.
This Sunday, the Silver and Black will again play in the 10AM PT timeslot, as they will stay on the East coast to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Going into this season, this game looked to be a sure bet for the Raiders, but after what we saw last Sunday, it is anybody’s guess as to how this season will play out the rest of the way.
They have a good chance to get right against a bad Jacksonville team, but if the team that showed up in New Orleans lands in Jacksonville, it could be another long afternoon.
Raiders at Jaguars Odds Week 9
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Raiders are actually slight favorites on the road in this one, giving 1.5 points to the Jaguars. The over/under is currently set at 47.5, so the expectation is that the offense should be able to get back on track this weekend. A money line bet on the Silver and Black would come in at -124, while a pick on the Saints would more than double your money at +106.
Incredibly, these odds are very familiar to the ones last weekend, and we all know how that one played out.
Raiders at Jaguars Prediction Week 9
Can the Raiders really be as bad as they showed against New Orleans?
My answer is no, but to get things right, they have to make some major changes to how the coaching staff prepares for games. It was clear that Josh McDaniels and Patrick Graham were completely outcoached against Dennis Allen and his staff, and that cannot happen again against a head coach in Doug Pederson who has won a Super Bowl.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is still in the infancy stage of his NFL career, and there have been times this season when he has looked lost. Graham needs to dial up a game plan that keeps Lawrence guessing all game long, and maybe actually get some pressure from Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones.
I like the Raiders, and quarterback Derek Carr, to bounce back in this one, as they should have a healthy Darren Waller returning on offense. Getting Davante Adams involved early is key, as is establishing the run game with Josh Jacobs, and in the end, I believe they get just enough stops on defense to win this road game and head back to Allegiant Stadium at 3-5.
Final Score: Raiders 24, Jaguars 20
