Las Vegas Raiders at Jacksonville 2022 Week 9: Jaguars to Worry About

Christian Kirk

After Davis Mills carved up the Raiders’ defense two weeks ago for 300+ yards and Andy Dalton threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, it’s not a secret that Las Vegas has to avoid getting outplayed by Trevor Lawrence. That task also means accounting for his number one receiving threat in Christian Kirk.

The Jaguars’ top offseason acquisition has only surpassed 80+ receiving yards in two games this season, but it feels like anybody is susceptible to go off against the Raiders’ leaky secondary. Coming into Sunday Las Vegas is allowing 258.1 passing yards per game, which is 25th in the NFL.

They are also allowing an average of 10.4 yards per completion, which is 19th in the league.

The injury to Nate Hobbs has clearly hampered a unit that has largely struggled in coverage for as long as one can remember. While Las Vegas may not be a lockdown defense, they can at least work to avoid surrendering big plays through the air. That means keeping tabs on Kirk, who leads averages 14.2 yards per reception this season with Jacksonville.
