The Las Vegas Raiders take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, and here are some storylines to keep an eye on in the matchup.
After back-to-back terrible losses on the road, the Las Vegas Raiders return to Allegiant Stadium in Week 10 sporting a 2-6 record. This has not been the season anybody could have predicted this summer, and when all is said and done, there will once again be wholesale changes within the organization.
As we turn the page to Week 10, it brings an AFC matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, a team in disarray as well. Here, we look at some storylines to keep an eye on this Sunday inside Allegiant Stadium.
Raiders vs Colts: Key storylines to keep an eye on in Week 10
Jeff Saturday at head coach
The big storyline when it comes to this matchup is the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts, who was recently an ESPN analyst. Jeff Saturday has no business being an NFL head coach, especially with talented assistants on Frank Reich’s staff that could have taken over, but here we are.
If the Raiders lose to the Colts on Sunday, is it the worst loss in the history of the franchise? Considering the circumstances, the fact they have a young quarterback, and a guy calling plays who has never done it before, a loss on Sunday would be an absolute laugher.
Raiders hitting rock bottom
The Raiders are close to hitting rock bottom, as they have lost two games to teams they had no business losing to, and embarrassingly. First, they were utterly dominated by the New Orleans Saints, and then, they blew their third 17-0 lead of the season, falling to a bad Jacksonville Jaguars team in Week 9.
However, none of that will compare to a loss at home against this Colts team, widely considered the worst in football. If they lose, then the Silver and Black have officially hit rock bottom.
New-look defense?
On Tuesday night, the Raiders did something that was a long time coming, as they finally cut ties with safety Johnathan Abram. Though Abram showed a bit of promise early on, his reckless play led to more bad than good, and it was clear he was not getting any better in the new scheme put in by defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.
Las Vegas Raiders at Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 Week 9: Studs and Duds
The Las Vegas Raiders suffered yet another embarrassment in Week 9, here are the studs and duds from a crushing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars
Now, we will have a new look in the secondary, as Trevon Moehrig is likely to move to strong safety, and possibly save what has been a terrible season for him as well. The Raiders have to change the narrative on defense, as they are as bad as ever on that side of the ball, so maybe releasing Abram will give them a spark.
