Las Vegas Raiders vs Colts 2022 Week 10: Key matchups to watch

JT versus the Raiders run defense

Jonathan Taylor has been nursing an ankle injury over the past few weeks which has caused him to miss multiple practices and three games so far this season. But NFL’s reigning rushing leader was able to get in a limited practice session on Wednesday, potentially setting him up to be a true game-time decision for Sunday.

The Silver and Black would be wise to prepare for him to suit up as the worst-case scenario.

To the Raiders’ credit, their defense has fared much better versus running backs as opposed to receivers. Las Vegas is ranked 14th in rushing defense with an average of 116.0 yards allowed per game, and they allow the seventh-fewest yards per rush attempt at 4.2 yards per carry.

Still, the way that this defense has played overall in back-to-back games means they cannot afford to overlook the chance that Taylor could run rampant on Sunday.

Alvin Kamara had a combined 158 yards and three scores versus the Raiders two weeks ago and Travis Etienne Jr. had 109 yards on the ground with two touchdowns last week. As the Colts’ lone offensive threat, winning the matchup with Taylor likely puts Las Vegas in a great position to come away with a win.
