Raiders vs Colts 2022 Week 10: Bold predictions

Bold Prediction #2: Rock Ya-Sin gets his revenge

Despite an overwhelmingly disappointing start to the 2022 season, one of the few bright spots for the Raiders this season has been defensive back Rock Ya-Sin.

The Raiders acquired Ya-Sin in an offseason trade with the Colts, as Las Vegas swapped EDGE Yannick Ngakoue for the young corner. Ya-Sin was drafted by Indianapolis in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, after showing out at Temple.

It seems that Ya-Sin has found a new home in Las Vegas as a high-end man-coverage cornerback.

Last season, Ya-Sin graded out as PFF’s fifth-best man-coverage cornerback, putting his true strengths on display. At his best, Ya-Sin is a one-on-one cover corner. This season, heading into Week 7, Amazon’s Next Gen Stats graded Ya-Sin as the fifth-best “shutdown” cornerback in the entire NFL, which is determined by several advanced coverage statistics.

The former Owl has five passes defended this year, although no interceptions. His statistics have, without question, suffered due to the lack of pass rush and secondary talent around him.

This Sunday, though, Ya-Sin will get his revenge on the Colts for trading him away. Sam Ehlinger will likely give the Raiders’ defense multiple opportunities to create turnovers. Let’s get really bold and say that Ya-Sin not only takes advantage of the opportunity and intercepts Ehlinger but also takes it back for six.
