Questioning the validity of Dave Ziegler as Raiders GM in the early going
Dave Ziegler and the Las Vegas Raiders
Magic – that’s the one word to describe the Las Vegas Raiders ’22 offseason under first-year general manager Dave Ziegler. Unfortunately for Raider Nation, magic is merely the art of deception.
The Silver and Black quickly became a staple in headlines this offseason after a slow legal tampering period which consisted of agreeing to terms with one single player; cornerback Darius Phillips, who failed to make the final 53-man roster. After that, the team took off, and so did the media.
Whether it was the news of signing All-Pro edge rusher Chandler Jones, drafting Georgia stud Zamir White or the Davante Adams blockbuster that caught everyone by surprise, outlets couldn’t get enough.
And neither could Raider Nation.
On the surface, it seemed impossible to move backward from the 10-win season Las Vegas mustered up during their ’21 campaign. However, things aren’t always as they appear. That’s a lesson everyone would learn 10 weeks into the new season as the Raiders march onward with a record of 2-6.
Through the struggles, one question looms large – is Dave Ziegler the right man for the general manager position in Las Vegas?
