Would a Raiders loss to the Colts in Week 10 be the worst in franchise history?

The 2022 NFL season has been a nightmare for the Las Vegas Raiders, but would a loss in Week 10 be the worst in the history of the franchise.

For the 2022 Las Vegas Raiders, the season has been one joke after another, as they are finding new ways to lose every week. In his first year as head coach, Josh McDaniels has brought more questions than answers with him from New England, and should already be on the hot seat eight games into his tenure.

Still, the Week 10 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts is a winnable game and is actually a battle the Raiders should win going away. This is a Colts team that is in complete disarray, as they have fired their head coach, Frank Reich, and replaced him with Jeff Saturday, who has next to zero coaching experience.

The Colts are also having someone call the offensive plays for the first time ever, and their quarterback is a second-year signal-caller who has not shown he can play at the NFL level just yet. All of this has the makings of the Raiders rolling, especially at home, but would a loss to the Colts be the worst in franchise history?

Las Vegas came into this season with high hopes after making the playoffs last season, and have way more talent than the Colts do. When you couple all the issues on the coaching staff, the bad quarterback, and their injuries, you would think the Raiders win this game by at least a few scores.

If they fail to win on Sunday, falling to 2-7, it would be rock bottom for the franchise, and I believe, the worst regular season loss in team history.

Raiders in ‘must-win’ mode the rest of the way

At 2-6, the Raiders’ playoff chances are basically gone, and at this point, they are just playing for pride. To say McDaniels’s first season with the team has been a nightmare would be an understatement, as he took over a playoff-caliber roster, and has made numerous questionable calls late in games.

The playoffs are a long shot, and the team is playing some of the worst football we have seen from the franchise in some time. However, a win is a win, and even against a bad team, a victory in Week 10 could be what the team needs to finally start feeling good about the rest of the season.
