Las Vegas Raiders vs Indianapolis Colts 2022 Week 10: Studs and Duds

Stud – Derek Carr

After an 0-5 start to the game, Derek Carr rebounded in the second quarter and beyond to go 24-38 for 248 yards and 2 touchdowns. There appears to be some sort of curse on Carr where he can’t throw 3 touchdowns in a game because he has not done so since December 2020 against the New York Jets.

This was not for a lack of trying as he hit Foster Moreau in the chest from 16 yards out but the backup tight end couldn’t make the catch and Davante Adams was mugged on the next play with no call from the official. Carr was unable to get anything going downfield, likely due to a lack of personnel, but he did a good job of finding receivers and backs underneath to keep drives alive.

The offense got off to a slow start and ultimately couldn’t do enough against one of the better scoring defenses in the NFL he did enough to get a win but his teammates let him down. Keelan Cole and Moreau dropped what would have been either a big play or a touchdown on the final drive and that doomed theRaiders’ attempt to win the game on the last drive.

After the game, Carr had one of the more emotional press conferences in recent memory until of course you remember the press conferences he had to give after the Henry Ruggs incident last season. Carr has carried himself with dignity and has always shown how much he loves being a Raider but the organization has consistently let him down with poor coaching hires and an inability to field a competent defense.

The veteran QB’s emotional press conference has been met with mixed reviews as some called it soft but others recognize all of the adversity he has gone through and the courage it takes to stand up and express yourself in such a way. We hope that one day Derek Carr gets to experience what winning feels like again but all signs point to that happening elsewhere after this season. As for any player, if he is in a Raiders jersey then we will root for him to succeed and that is especially true for a player that has done so much for this franchise and gotten so little in return.
