2023 7-round Mock Draft: Raiders hit the reset button at QB

65. player. 879. . DT. Tigers . Tyler Davis

When drafting defensive tackles, you typically look for two types of players. One is the Gervon Dexter type that can be disruptive due to their explosiveness and length and the other is Tyler Davis who uses leverage and power to make plays.

Davis is the type of player that can command double teams and has some of the lateral quickness that a taller player like Dexter may not bring to the game. He would pair up nicely with Dexter and can absorb some double teams to let outside pass rushers like Maxx Crosby run wild to the quarterback.

The Clemson star has dealt with some injuries in his college career but he has tremendous potential and can earn his place in the Raiders rotation right away. He has an impressive 14 career sacks in 38 games and an even more impressive 24 tackles for loss showing his potential for splitting double teams and being a disruptive force in the backfield. The Raiders need a desperate upgrade to their defensive tackle group and going back to back on that position makes a great deal of sense.
