Las Vegas Raiders: 10 expiring contracts not getting renewed next year
Expiring Raiders contract No. 5: Jarrett Stidham
The quarterback position is suddenly at a crossroads for the Silver and Black. Hearsay is rampant around Carr. Is this the year the Raiders move on? Carr could be released, traded, or retire, as he has previously stated. That leaves Jarrett Stidham as your signal-caller, but you can rest assured that would never happen.
Let’s say the Raiders rebuild the position; Stidham might save face due to his familiarity with McDaniels’ offense. Then again, the possibility exists that Ziegler and Co. draft a highly touted quarterback prospect and simultaneously bring in an experienced starter, leaving Stidham as the odd man out.
In a strange twist, Stidham might have the best chance to return out of these 10 players due to said familiarity; after all, it is the most complex offense in the NFL.
Expiring Raiders contract No. 6: Jermaine Eluemunor
Another offensive lineman that could find himself on the unemployment line is Jermaine Eluemunor. Like Stidham, he too has familiarity with McDaniels, so he has that going for him, but that’s about it. Sporting a solid 69.3 pass-blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus, things could’ve been much worse.
Unfortunately, the sloppy and undisciplined play has derailed much of his work. So far, he has flagged six times. Fans have witnessed Thayer Munford’s progression, and quite frankly, he’s impressed when he’s been on the field. It wouldn’t be too farfetched to think that Munford will take the mantle next season, leaving Eluemunor as an expandable asset.
