Las Vegas Raiders: 10 expiring contracts not getting renewed next year

Expiring Raiders contract No. 9: Josh Jacobs

Really? Jacobs? Yes, as difficult as it may be to stomach, the odds aren’t looking good for No. 28 to return. If the Raiders are indeed now heading toward a complete rebuild, paying major money for a running back doesn’t make sense. Ziegler could draft one next April and pair him with Brown and White, with Jakob Johnson leading the way as he pummels defenders.

In a perfect world, Jacobs continues his career with the Raiders. However, with so many holes plaguing the roster, resources need to be allocated elsewhere and not to a position that’s become so devalued over the years.

The only other way this is avoided is if Jacobs is willing to take a team-friendly deal. Be that as it may, there are going to be several suitors salivating at the prospect of snatching up Jacobs next offseason.

Expiring Raiders contract No. 10: Jayon Brown

Jayon Brown has seen increased playing time this season, but like many of the players on this list, it’s been out of necessity. The fact is, Brown went from being an inactive player to playing defensive snaps against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

The Raiders’ linebacker corps is a disaster, and it’s clearly not what Graham needs in order for his scheme to succeed. With Brown scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next offseason, the likelihood of his services being needed again is slim. He’s a liability in both run defense and pass coverage, where he’s credited with a perfect 100 percent completion percentage when targeted. That’s all you need to know, quite frankly.
