Why the Las Vegas Raiders beat Denver in 2022 Week 11
Clutch Carr
Say what you want about Derek Carr, but the numbers he has been putting up throughout his career in overtime are absurd. In fact, he now holds the best record in NFL history by a quarterback with at least ten starts in overtime games, as he has posted an 8-2 mark in his career, and certainly smelled blood in the water on Sunday against Denver.
First, he led the Raiders on a drive late in the fourth quarter to set up a Daniel Carlson field goal that sent the game into overtime, hitting Josh Jacobs in stride for a 40-plus yard gain. Then, once AJ Cole won the coin toss, giving the Silver and Black the ball first in overtime, he went right to work after a one-yard loss by Jacobs.
Hitting Foster Moreau for 33 yards across the middle, and then a dime under pressure to Davante Adams for the score, Carr proved once again that he can be one of the best quarterbacks in football with the game on the line. It was the kind of performance we had been waiting for out of Carr, and he delivered on Sunday.
