Las Vegas Raiders: Team that could trade for Derek Carr

New Orleans Saints

One of the most aggressive teams in the league, the Saints refuse to enter a rebuilding phase. Willing to trade draft picks at a whim, they could easily make a move for the veteran quarterback. Currently starting journeyman passer Andy Dalton, they are in need of an upgrade at the most important position.

As mentioned, the Saints make a clear effort to win the Super Bowl every season. In the 2022 NFL Draft, despite questions throughout the roster, they traded up to select Trevor Penning in an aggressive move to improve the offensive line.

In addition to a solid offensive line, the Saints have one of the league’s best running backs in Alvin Kamara to go along with Chris Olave who is having a fantastic season as a rookie. With the potential that Michael Thomas would return and have a healthy season, the Saints have plenty of weapons on offense to justify a trade.

Not only does the team have a need for the position but head coach Dennis Allen is quite familiar with Derek Carr. The head coach when the Raiders drafted him in 2014, they were together for four games that season before he was fired. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, who has been in that position since 2009, should mesh well with Carr and his skillset.

Currently, the Saints do not possess a first-round pick. However, that is unlikely to be the asking price anyway so they would likely be willing to offer up a second-round selection to the Raiders in return for Carr.
