Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Madd Maxx gets some help
In this mock draft it was surprising that Will Anderson lasted until the 4th overall pick but the Chicago Bears who have the third pick selected star left tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu to protect Justin Fields. In this universe, the Raiders get the best defensive player in the draft and a guy that some think is the best player period.
Anderson has all of the physical characteristics to succeed at the NFL level and is an incredible athlete in space. The success of Micah Parsons in the NFL will have any team that can grab Anderson picturing that same production and he looks like the type of guy that can change an entire defense.
The Raiders have not had a good defense in 20 years and drafting Anderson is an excellent start to changing that. Putting him across the line from Maxx Crosby is an incredible prospect and will help minimize the damage that Chandler Jones has done to the Raiders salary cap with his lack of production.
The only concern about Anderson is his approach in the run game at the point of contact but that is something that can be coached up and the Raiders can minimize that by playing him off ball and as a blitzer. Raider Nation can be excited about the prospect of getting a star defensive player to help turn this unit around once and for all.
