Las Vegas Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Madd Maxx gets some help
Jackson Mitchell fits one of the two archetypes that you generally see teams take a chance on in the 7th round. They either go for the physical freaks that don’t have much production or film or they take the guys with a ton of production but may not necessarily have the physical tools teams look for.
Mitchell is firmly in the second category as he does not have great size at 6-2, 229lbs and will likely run in the 4.7 range but he has a ton of production and is a smart, instinctual linebacker. He has 250 tackles over the last two seasons and has helped take UConn from laughing stock to competitive in just one season.
The Huskies star is one of those guys that can quickly become a fan favorite with his instincts and ability to read the game and can be a nice depth piece for this Raiders defense. He has a great nose for the ball with 2 interceptions in the last two seasons and a remarkable 5 fumble recoveries in 2022. There is a chance that he goes undrafted as well, but any team would be lucky to have him.
