Davante Adams is still “Him”
When the Raiders traded a first and second-round pick to the Green Bay Packers for Davante Adams, they did it to add an elite playmaker to their offense. After two straight seasons where he had a combined 238 receptions for 2,927 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns, there was no better man for the job than Adams.
However, after spending his entire career with a future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, some were concerned that perhaps his production was inflated. While he would be teaming up with his college quarterback and best friend Derek Carr, it was inarguably a downgrade at the position.
Quickly, Adams went to work and eliminated all doubt that he was still the top flight wideout. With over 100 yards and a touchdown in week one, he has not slowed down from that pace since. Currently, he has 925 receiving yards which is good for fourth in the league, and ten touchdowns which is good for second. With seven games left to play, he has a chance to set career-best marks in both categories as well as receptions.
When the front office looks back on the 2022 off-season, they will certainly have some regrets. The acquisition of Adams will certainly not be one of them.
