Raiders RB Josh Jacobs making his case to be an All-Pro this year
Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is on another level right now, but what’s the difference this year?
Last season, Jacobs struggled health-wise, and it affected his play on the field. Having a struggling O-line also didn’t help. Totaling 872 yards rushing while averaging just four yards per carry wasn’t exactly eye-popping for the incoming Ziegler. To put things into perspective, scoring-wise, Jacobs already has nine rushing touchdowns this season, which is what he had in total in all of 2021.
Jacobs had a remarkable stretch of games recently where he recorded at least 143 rushing yards or more in each of those games. All in all, Jacobs is averaging more than five yards per carry for the season (5.4); simply put, he’s dominating. It’s quite the turnaround, making his accomplishments in 2022 all the more incredible if we’re being honest.
The arrival of Davante Adams was a game-changer
Jacobs has had some talented teammates in his young career, but with all due respect, none of them have been on the level of Davante Adams. Looking back, Derek Carr was the most excited for Jacobs this off-season. He recognized that Jacobs was getting himself into prime shape ahead of the 2022 season. With the arrival of Adams, Carr stated that teams were going to give Jacobs the chance to beat them given the fact that Adams was going to command so much attention, and that has certainly played a role.
