Las Vegas Raiders vs Seattle Seahawks 2022 Week 12: Studs and Duds

Raiders Pass Defense – Dud

The Raiders’ pass defense has struggled mightily in 2022 and we saw much of the same issues in week 12. They allowed Geno Smith to throw for over 300 yards and wear it not for the pass rush getting to him consistently, he could’ve had a much bigger day.

The primary culprit on Sunday was Rock Ya-Sin as he was abused by both Seattle receivers, but most of the damage was done by Tyler Lockett. The two safeties for the Raiders, Duron, Harmon, and Trevon Moehrig. Both had chances to make plays in the end zone, but neither could complete the play. At least Harmon has come up with big plays in other games this year, but Moehrig continues to struggle to make plays.

This is a guy that had seven career interceptions in college but has not transferred to the big leagues. By my account, he has dropped at least three easy interceptions this year and let one hit off both of his hands in the end zone against the Seahawks. We expected more this season from the second-year player, but he has not stepped up to the plate.

Aside from the safeties, Anthony Averett continues to struggle in man coverage and while Tyler Hall has stepped in admirably, he is not up to snuff. This defense is calling out for a number-one corner and hopefully, Nate Hobbs can return to the lineup soon.
