Raiders 2023 7-round mock draft: Las Vegas needs met in draft haul

Al Walcott. 213. player. 860. . DB. Bears

Al Walcott is an intriguing prospect as he is listed on most draft profiles as a cornerback but has played safety and can do so at the next level. On the official Baylor depth chart, he is listed as the STAR which is a safety/linebacker hybrid position that is expected to rush the passer and cover depending on the offensive alignment.

Walcott has been all over the field for the Bears as he has racked up 81 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 interception which shows his positional versatility. Similar to Colby Wooden, that can be seen as a negative by some scouts, but the 7th round is where you can gamble on guys like this who can just flat-out play football.

The hybrid player is listed at 6-2, 211lbs so he has the size to play box safety, but his long speed is a concern and could keep him from being drafted before the 7th round. We have seen that there is a difference between game speed and track speed so if Walcott is a smart enough player, he can compensate for that lack of top-end ability with his mind.
