Raiders 2023 7-round mock draft: Las Vegas needs met in draft haul

OT. Buckeyes . Dawand Jones. 75. player. 812.

The Raiders offensive line has been gelling well but there are still some long-term questions about the right tackle position and that is where Dawand Jones comes into the picture. The Ohio State Buckeye has only been a true starter for one season but he has a massive frame and is a very good athlete for his size.

Jones is ranked as a top 10 offensive tackle prospect in this draft and the added benefit is that he is a right tackle by trade so can more easily learn the position at the next level. He measures in at a massive 6-8, 359 lbs and is a solid enough athlete to keep up with the shiftiest pass rushers.

The biggest positive for Jones is his physicality in the run game due to his massive size and he can quite literally envelop opposing defenders at the point of attack. Looking at him is reminiscent of Trent Brown when he is in good shape and perhaps he can make his living long-term at left tackle if the Raiders choose to move on from Kolton Miller at some point.

Some of the issues with his game include a struggle against smaller defenders due to his leverage and can struggle against guys with great bend and explosiveness like Von Miller. His strengths add up as far more than his weaknesses so he looks like an excellent prospect that can play swing tackle right away and projects as a long-term starter at the position.
