The top players up for MVP are having great individual campaigns, especially Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and Tyreek Hill, just to name a handful. However, if you look at what Peterson did in 2012, Jacobs could in fact be approaching similar, if not better, numbers.

Let’s take a look at a few categories to show how close Jacobs is to Peterson’s MVP 2012 campaign. Peterson recorded 12 rushing touchdowns that year, along with one through the air. Jacobs, for his part, has 10 touchdowns on the ground already. With the number of games left to be played, it’s more than likely Jacobs will surpass Peterson.

Perhaps head coach Josh McDaniels can devise a strategy to get Jacobs a touchdown through the air. It would certainly help Jacobs’s case and showcase how much of a dual threat he’s become under McDaniels (331 receiving yards this year, quickly approaching his career high of 348).

Another aspect that could help Jacobs surpass Peterson’s accomplishments will be the additional games played. Additionally, we’re also assuming Jacobs’ calf issue doesn’t linger or get aggravated. The fact is, the Raiders need to win out, and in order to do that, Jacobs will be needed in every single game.
