Raiders vs Patriots 2022 Week 15: Bold predictions

Derek Carr Disappoints Again

Derek Carr had the worst game of his career last week against the Rams where they lost in the 25th hour 17-16. He went 11-20 for 137 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. One of those interceptions came at the end of the first half in the red zone to end their 4th red-zone drive in four possessions in the first half.

The Raiders were up 13-3 at that point and would only score three more points the rest of the game.

That interception marked the 14th red-zone interception by Carr in his career, tying him with Ryan Tannehill, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Philip Rivers for the most red-zone interceptions in NFL history since 2014 when he entered the league. His red-zone woes are well documented and once again the narrative of whether the Raiders should move on from Carr has started to swirl.

It has only happened twice in his career where Derek has had back-to-back games of throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. Most recently was Week 11 and 12 in 2019 against the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. The first was his rookie season in 2014 during Weeks 2 and 3 against the Houston Texans and this week’s matchup…New England Patriots.

I still believe the Raiders will win this game and the next slide will explain how, but it’s not going to be because Derek Carr was lights out and had a bounce-back game. This Patriots’ defense is no slouch and I believe his struggles against top-tier defensive lines and in the red zone will continue this week.
