Raiders 2023 7-round Mock Draft: Las Vegas lands a franchise QB

Crimson Tide . Byron Young. 112. player. 829. . DT

The Raiders used a couple picks last year on defensive tackles but so far have had to rely on free agent signings and waiver wire pickups to fill that position. Andrew Billings and Jerry Tillery are decent players but are not long-term solutions to what has been a long-term problem for the Silver and Black.

That is where Alabama’s Byron Young comes in as he could fill that need as a fourth-round pick. Young has a solid build at 6-3 and 292 lbs but could stand to add some more weight to his frame depending on what type of defensive tackle he wants to be. He has the short-area quickness and strength to hold up at the point of attack and could bulk up to be a run-stuffer or slim down to be more of a pass rusher.

The Crimson Tide star has the motor and skills to do both though he relied a bit too much on his physical strength which obviously will not be as big an advantage at the NFL level. His leverage and hustle make him a handful for any blocker and he can be an instant impact player for the Raider defense.

He can also play as a nose tackle despite being a bit light for the position due to that leverage and strength.
