The Las Vegas Raiders benched Derek Carr with two games left in the season, and after nine years, his career in the Silver and Black is over.

After the Las Vegas Raiders lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Eve night, the franchise made the decision to send quarterback Derek Carr to the bench. Carr and the Raiders came into the 2022 season with high expectations after making the playoffs the season before, but the 2022 campaign quickly became a nightmare.

With another change in leadership, the Raiders never really got it going in 2022, as they struggled to hold big leads, and Derek Carr struggled down the stretch. On an offense that boasted the No. 1 running back and wide receiver in the NFL, Carr and the offense could not put up points on a consistent basis, and looked stagnant at times.

Finally, the team decided it was time to take a look at Jarrett Stidham, benching Derek Carr for the rest of the season and turning the page on their franchise quarterback. Carr eventually would leave the team, stating he did not want to be a distraction, but his removal, and departure was one of the weirder occurrences in recent team history.
