Raiders: Top 3 reasons to get excited about the 2023 NFL Draft

No. 1: Selecting on Day 1

During the 2022 offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders, the biggest move of them all was the trade with the Green Bay Packers for Davante Adams. Seen as a missing piece for a playoff team the year before, Adams had an outstanding season with the Raiders, but it came at a price, as Las Vegas sent Green Bay their first and second-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

In 2023, the Raiders finally will return to picking on Day 1, but for most of Raider Nation, that may not be considered a good thing. Under Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock, the franchise continuously missed on first-round picks, doing better after Day 1, so hopefully, that can change under McDaniels and David Ziegler.

The fun and exciting lead-up to the NFL Draft is one of the best times of the year for NFL fans, especially fans like the Raiders have, a group that has seen the playoffs only twice since the 2002 NFL season. Maybe things change under McDaniels and Ziegler and looking at this year’s draft class, an impact player should be incoming.
