Primary scapegoats from the Las Vegas Raiders 2022 season

The Owner

When you own a professional sports team, the successes and failures of said team are going to fall directly on you. That is the case for team owner Mark Davis, who has been under the microscope since taking over the helm of the franchise from his late father.

In 2022, it seemed that Davis had put together a solid group to lead the franchise into taking the next step forward. Josh McDaniels was a highly sought-after assistant coach, and David Ziegler was seen by many as a great hire as general manager, this after helping build so many solid New England teams.

But, with the losses came the questions, like why didn’t the team just bring back Rich Bisaccia, who seemed to have the love and respect of the locker room. In fairness, Davis went out and brought in some key talent, and tried to bring some stability to the head coach and GM spot by hiring younger guys to man those roles.

After one year, the combination of McDaniels and Ziegler seems like a mistake, but we have a long way to go until that is how they will be remembered.
