After nine eventful seasons, Derek Carr appears to be out as the Raiders’ starting quarterback. Before he leaves, let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at the best moments of his career.
After a week sixteen loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Eve, the Raiders made a franchise-altering move by benching starting quarterback Derek Carr. The face of the franchise, he was the team’s leader for nine seasons. Due to many reasons, the team’s hand was forced.
At the time of his benching, Carr led the league in interceptions on a team that had failed to reach expectations. Of course, this was not entirely the fault of Carr but with his massive contract set to kick in near the start of 2023, the team elected to move on after nine seasons.
Despite the unceremonious end, Carr is arguably the greatest quarterback in franchise history. Since being selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, he has gone on to become the leading passer in every category in the Raiders record book.
While the team didn’t win often, Carr still left the members of Raider Nation with plenty of exciting memories. Through all of the come-from-behind wins, record-breaking performances, and big games against rivals, these are the five best moments of the Raiders’ Derek Carr era.
