Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Las Vegas trades down in Round 1

DT. Tigers . Bryan Bresee. 16. player. 879.

As mentioned earlier the Raiders are set to pick 7th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft but in our mock draft, they take advantage of a hot trade market to trade back and load up on some picks in this draft and 2024. They trade with the Washington Commanders and give up the 7th pick in exchange for picks 16 and 47 in 2023 and their first-round pick in 2024.

Washington uses the pick on Kelee Ringo out of Georgia and the Raiders snag Bryan Bresee out of Clemson. Bresee is a massive defensive tackle that is one of the best prospects in this year’s class. Many scouts have him ranked as the third-best defensive line prospect behind his teammate Myles Murphy and Jalen Carter out of Georgia.

He may not last until the 16th pick, but he is available in this mock draft, so we snag him and plug him in the middle of the Raiders’ defense.

Reesie measures in at 6-5 and 300lbs and reminds many scouts of Ndamukong Suh due to his combination of size, strength, and speed. The Raiders have not had a truly dominant defensive tackle since Richard Seymour and plugging him into this defense alongside Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones could be a massive upgrade.

The primary concerns around Bresee are an ACL injury that he suffered in 2021 and a tendency to play upright at times.

Bresee played 10 games this year for Clemson and looks to have recovered fully from the injury and his form and technique can be coached up. What makes Bresee especially intriguing for this defense is his ability to draw double teams in the run game and also rush the passer. He has nine sacks in 28 games and 15 tackles for loss.

While he is not quite the splash pick that Raider Nation is hoping for in the first round, trading down allows them to snag another important player and build up the defense.
