Las Vegas Raiders: 5 numbers that defined the 2022 season

Josh Jacobs rushing yards

The offense as a whole was defined by its inconsistency in 2022, but that can not be said of Josh Jacobs.

After a disappointing 2021 season that ended with the Raiders not picking up his fifth-year option, Jacobs exploded in 2022 and took home his first rushing title. He rushed for 1653 yards and 12 touchdowns and was a workhorse with 340 carries, ranking second behind Derrick Henry. He also led the league in yards from scrimmage with 2053.

Going from not getting your option picked up to be the best running back in the 2022 season is quite the turnaround. Jacobs put everything together and showed he was every bit as talented as his first-round selection suggested.

The Raiders were 5-1 when Jacobs ran for 100 yards, so if the Raiders were winning, it was likely due to them controlling the run game with Jacobs. According to NFL Research, his performance in Seattle was one for the history books as he became the only player since 1950 with 225+ rush yards and 70+ receiving yards in a single game.

The question about what size contract Jacobs will get this offseason will be a huge talking point for Raider nation, but what can’t be disputed is that he earned his money in 2022.
