Las Vegas Raiders: 5 numbers that defined the 2022 season
Raiders: 5 numbers that defined the 2022 season
4. 6.6
Penalties per game
Do you remember the last time the Raiders were not one of the worst teams in the league when it came to penalties?
Yeah, me neither.
In the last 20 years, the Raiders’ highest finish in terms of penalties per game was 16th in 2004. They also finished 18th in 2018, but besides that, they have been bottom third every other year and finished dead last five different times.
At this point, I’m not sure what will turn this around because the low finishes have happened under multiple regimes. The Raiders finished 30th this season with 6.6 per game, and it seems like Josh McDaniels wasn’t able to bring the New England Patriots’ attention to detail over to the Raiders.
Fans are quick to point to the vendetta they feel the NFL has against the Raiders, but while the team does get some questionable calls from time to time, at some point, we have to admit this is just not a discipline football team. And they have not been for a long time.
