2023 Raiders 7-round NFL Mock Draft: Best Player over Positional Need

107. player. 829. . OT. Crimson Tide . Tyler Steen

This is another pick where need meets talent as the Raiders have an established left tackle but have plenty of questions at right tackle. Jermaine Eluemunor and Thayer Munford both took turns playing right tackle as did some others, but the Raiders will need a long-term answer and Tyler Steen can provide that.

Steen started his career at Vanderbilt and played there for three seasons at both right and left tackle before transferring to Alabama for his senior season. In 788 snaps for the Crimson Tide, he allowed two QB hits and two sacks which is solid production given that he would often face the opposition’s best pass rushers.

There are concerns about his strength against bull rushers but that can be developed as he continues to grow into his body. Steen measures well compared to the other offensive tackles and has great footwork in pass protection. He does not project as an immediate starter for the Raiders but he can quickly develop into a swing tackle and potential starter down the line.
