2023 Raiders 7-round NFL Mock Draft: Best Player over Positional Need
In an NFL where versatility is the key to success, a guy like Mike Morris has all of the attributes to be an immediate contributor to any defense. Morris has great size at 6/6 and 292 pounds and has the ability to play both interior defensive line and line up on the edge.
As a senior for the Wolverines, he recorded just 17 tackles but was also able to notch 9 sacks on the season which is impressive considering that he lined up everywhere for Jim Harbaugh’s defense. His length allows him to keep offensive linemen from engaging with him and he has a bevy of pass-rush moves that he displays when getting after the quarterback.
His speed and athleticism are solid as well as he ran a 4.75 40 which ranks him in the top 15% at his position. There are concerns that he plays without leverage but much like many other prospects he can learn to do so with the proper coaching. The Raiders will be thin at defensive line after a few impending departures so Morris is another player that fills a need and is also incredibly talented.
