Raiders moving on from Derek Carr is the only way to catch the Chiefs

Chiefs continue to roll

With the Chiefs machine continuing to roll even without Tyreek Hill, it is fair to wonder how they can be stopped. With one of the best head coaches in the league in Andy Reid, the league’s best quarterback in Mahomes, and the best tight end in Travis Kelce, the offense is nearly unstoppable at times.

On defense, Chris Jones anchors a unit that always gives the Raiders fits.

With Derek Carr on the way out the door, it is up to head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler to build a team that can catch Kansas City. With some elite pieces in place, are the Raiders on pace to catch the Chiefs?

As mentioned, former franchise quarterback Derek Carr is going to be shown the door in the coming weeks. While he did many good things in his time in the Silver and Black, his struggles against the Chiefs were always glaring. In fact, in seventeen career matchups, he was just 3-14 with only one of those wins on the road.

Now, was Carr the only reason the team consistently lost to Kansas City? Of course not. However, he was a major weakness more often than not as Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo always seemed to have the team’s number while “4” was under center. Whoever takes the next snap under center for Las Vegas has to be a guy who is capable of going into Arrowhead and securing a win.
