2023 NFL 1st Round Mock Draft: Raiders get a gift at No. 7 overall

. Defensive Tackle. Las Vegas Raiders. Jalen Carter. 7. player. 28

The Raiders hold the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, this after not drafting in the first or second rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. Las Vegas traded those picks to the Green Bay Packers for Davante Adams, and got an outstanding return on that investment in Year 1, but now comes the time to actually get an impact player in Round 1.

Outside of Josh Jacobs back in 2019, the first round has been a nightmare in recent memory for the Silver and Black, something David Ziegler hopes to change in his second draft as general manager. With this pick, the Raiders add arguably one of the top can’t-miss prospects in this draft class, bringing in Jalen Carter from Georgia.

Carter is as good as it gets in this draft class in terms of being a defensive playmaker, and he fills a big void on this roster along the defensive line. The Raiders have to add quality talent to the interior of the defensive line to help Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones on the outside, and Carter is more than capable of doing just that as a rookie.
