Las Vegas Raiders: Is it time to move on from Foster Moreau?

The Las Vegas Raiders have plenty of decisions to make in free agency, and bringing back tight end Foster Moreau is definitely one of them.
Over the past two seasons, Las Vegas Raiders star tight end Darren Waller has dealt with numerous injuries, limiting his availability since moving to the desert. While that has affected the Raiders’ offense in a negative way, it has cleared the way for Foster Moreau to get more playing time, moving into the TE1 role.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, Moreau never really looked like a TE1 in that role, and consistently looked like a depth piece at best. Sure, as a backup tight end, Moreau is definitely an asset, but going into free agency, is he someone Las Vegas plans to bring back?
There is no doubt that Moreau has the physical ability to be a solid player at the NFL level, and he has proven to be a real threat in the red zone. The problem is, he has had plenty of opportunities to establish himself as a piece for this franchise going forward and has yet to really take advantage of any of them.
Raiders may turn the page on Moreau this offseason
Looking at the tight end position as a whole, some feel that the Silver and Black could move on from Darren Waller this offseason, but we believe that would be a mistake. While Waller is a star, Moreau has yet to prove he is the kind of asset that the team must bring back, and the new regime may turn the page on him this offseason.
There are some solid options in free agency the team could go after, and based on the offense Josh McDaniels ran in New England, having more than just one option at the tight end position is key.
Maybe the organization feels that Moreau is a young player that should bring back, and in flashes, he certainly looks the part. However, changes are coming this offseason, and as someone who has yet to really produce, he may be on the outside looking in when all is said and done.
